Juan Pablo Rodríguez Sánchez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London and BSc degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as an MSc in Civil Engineering, from Universidad de los Andes. His research focuses on urban hydrology and sustainable urban water management, with particular emphasis on the planning, design, and monitoring of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and urban nature-based solutions (NbS) for climate resilience. 

His work encompasses multi-scale and multi-criteria frameworks for selecting and locating green stormwater infrastructure, the assessment of ecosystem services provided by blue-green infrastructure, urban drainage modelling, stormwater harvesting, and the proactive management of urban water infrastructure, including sewer asset management. He is especially interested in decision-support tools and transdisciplinary approaches that address the technical, institutional, and socio-economic dimensions of implementing sustainable drainage in cities of the Global South, bridging academic research and public policy. 

He was a member of the IWA/IAHR Joint Committee on Urban Drainage (JCUD, 2017–2024) and was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Georgia State University in 2023.
