The presentation explains the background and objectives of the European Green Deal as well as its different elements, which have been adopted so far. It focuses on the areas of responsibility of DG Environment. This covers in particular the biodiversity strategy, the circular economy action plan and the zero-pollution action plan, but not the climate-related proposals. It also explains the link between the EGD and environmental research and innovation issues, Here, it looks in particular on the integration of environmental issues in the new R&I framework programme Horizon Europe and the “Green Deal Call “ under its predecessor Horizon 2020.
